If Follain had a theme during the month of October, it would be sharing - sharing our story, our message, and our products at events all over the Boston area! We’re on a mission to spread the health, and this month we had tons of success doing just that.
On October 23rd, we had two pop-ups in one day – one at Babson’s Food Day and another at the Newbury Street Madewell store! Then, on October 28th we popped up at the New England Night of Wellness, held at The Urban Grape.
In the words of Babson College, Food Day offers “an opportunity to bring people together to celebrate and enjoy real food, resolve to make changes in our own diets, and to push for improved food policies at the local, state, and national level.”
You’re probably thinking to yourself, how did a skincare and beauty store end up at an event like Food Day? Well, among the 20+ tables of food start-ups at Babson’s “Marketplace of Great Food and Ideas”, Follain was the sole rep for skin food – an important topic that deserves discussion!
Healthy and sustainable food is where the Follain concept began, after all. I started cutting nasty preservatives and GMOs out of my diet, and then realized that cutting these out of my skincare was an obvious – and important – lifestyle extension. Fast forward a few years, when I was at Babson for my MBA, I joined the original Food Sol group that brought Food Day to campus. So, you can imagine how fun it was for me to come back to campus years later with my own company – among so many other amazing healthy start-ups like 88 Acres, Perfect Fuel, Drink Maple, and others!
Follain x Madewell
A short few hours later on Thursday October 23rd, we set up a table at the Madewell store on Newbury Street! Here, we introduced Madewell customers, Follain customers, Boston bloggers, and others to our healthier makeup alternatives with makeovers, over glasses of champagne – in such a fun store space! This was a great opportunity for us to meet tons of new people, and continue to spread the health. What a fun night!
New England Night of Wellness
This past Tuesday evening, we set up a table at a very special and important evening event in support of Art BeCAUSE, a non-profit that raises money to fund research examining the environmental causes of breast cancer. It is so alarming that 90% of all those diagnosed have absolutely no family history of breast cancer. We can’t immediately control all environmental issues – like the air we breathe – but we can control our lifestyle choices like the food we eat, products we use, and our exercise.
We are huge supporters of the work that Art BeCAUSE does, and we were so grateful to be part of the event that Organic Bath Co. organized, to support such amazing research. The event offered an opportunity to meet many other New England wellness-based companies like Something Gud, Drink Motto, Supplet, and others. We always knew that New England is a hub for health and wellness start-ups, but the larger missions and values of these wellness start-ups became that much more clear to us last night. It was such a great event in support of an even better cause!
We’re feeling great about these events, and hope to see you at more over the next months.
Until then, be well!
