DIY Treatments to Feed Your Skin!

We had such a fun time last night at our South End shop, along with lots of familiar faces and new ones too.  Thanks to all who came out for the event – and especially to those who were brave enough to sport the DIY face masks as passersby looked on from the street!

For those of you who couldn’t attend, last night we paired up with our South End neighbor shop, Snap Top Market. Snap Top carries an amazing assortment of locally grown produce and packaged food products, in addition to healthy takeout options like acai bowls, lettuce wraps, and raw veggie pasta.  Basically, it’s a dream come true to have them right around the corner from us!

Last night, Snap Top joined us in our South End shop to serve delicious dishes (the zucchini squash pasta was my favorite!), debut their new delivery service (too perfect!), and share some DIY face mask recipes that coordinate well with our own products.  It was such a fun and healthy night!

If you want to relive the night at home this weekend, the DIY recipes we used can all be found below.  Thanks again to Snap Top and all our event attendees – we had such a blast, and – most importantly – are feeling great this morning after all those face masks and raw foodie treats!

Avocado Banana Face Mask / Tammy Fender Quintessential Serum

Need a moisturizing boost? Try this avocado banana face mask. The fats in the avocado and coconut oil are deeply moisturizing while vitamin C from the orange juice aids in the production of collagen, helps fight inflammation and neutralizes free radicals.

DIY Recipe:
1 tablespoon mashed avocado
1 tablespoon mashed banana
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon orange juice

Directions: Mash avocado and banana in a medium size bowl; add coconut oil along with the orange juice. Mix the ingredients together until they form a smooth paste that can be applied to the face. After leaving the mask on for 15-20 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water. Use this mask once a week for best results.

Cranberry Cleanser / Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser

Fight premature aging with this fall favorite. Cranberries help fight against free radicals and wrinkles. They also aid in moisture retention, improving skin elasticity and suppleness.

DIY Recipe:
1 handful of cranberries
1-2 teaspoon plain yogurt
1-2 teaspoon honey

Directions: Blend cranberries and yogurt in a blender to make a smooth paste. Add in honey and apply on clean face and neck. Keep on for 20 minute and then wash off with warm water.

Honey Face Mask / La Bella Figura Bioactive Purifying Mask

Perfect trio of ingredients to treat dry skin, especially throughout the upcoming winter season. The fats in the avocado and whole milk yogurt are deeply moisturizing, while the lactic acid in the yogurt smoothes your skin, refines pores and stimulates collagen production.

DIY Recipe:
1 teaspoon mashed avocado
1 teaspoon whole milk yogurt
1 teaspoon honey

Directions:  Mix ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture over your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing off.

Pumpkin Face Mask / Shamanuti Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

Keep your summer glow and reverse sun damage with this honey and pumpkin combination. Honey is a natural antibacterial and full of antioxidants for slowing down the aging process. It is also extremely moisturizing and soothing. Pumpkin helps to restore and reverse skin damage from the sun.

DIY Recipe:
1 tablespoon raw honey
2 tablespoons pumpkin

Directions: Mix ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture over your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing off.
